Don't know if my first post made it. So I'll make my comments again. I thought the opening ceremonies were borhing.

Very disappointed.

Teams with 3-4 people had more attention from NBC that teams with 30 or more athletes...very disappointed...For example, Ukraine ( 250 athletes) received from NBC two words...and shown 1 athlete carrying a flag...that's all ...

to NBC : The ceremony was beautiful...but...too much attention to teams with 1-4 athletes...and almost none attention to some other countries...for example, UKRAINE received 2 words from NBC reporter and we saw only 1 athlete with a flag...that's all !!! this is a huge team of 250 people...very disappointed.

I agree with G from PA. These ceremonies were the worst that I have ever watched. To me, the highlight was after the Queen entered and the children from the school for the deaf & blind sang the GB Anthem. Also, I was extremely disappointed on the 'lighting of the Olympic cauldron'. This is usually done by a person who is either someone who ha actually been in the olympics or for some other mentionable reason.. tonight, you didn't know who was lighting it or for what reason- also, they didn't even say anything about it until those things were beginning to rise and then Matt said 'this now forms the Olympic cauldron and it has been lit'.. very, very disappointed in the whole entire thing.

It seems to be only Americans who think the Openning Ceremony was bad. I watched it on the BBC, with no ad breaks as it was meant to be seen. They are saying it will change Ceremony because it was film like a live action movie. Too subtle for you Americans? No disrespect but the USA held what was widely regarded as the worst games in history in Atlanta. I think is the way NBC presented because it is only Americans saying it was from the international reaction. How stupid to break up a live show with ads. You Americans love money more than anything else.

In England, where we watched it, there were NO commercials, thank goodness. It was so moving and spectacular I am grateful we did not have to endure those dreadful ads you did. I am gutted by that because as one poster said, it cut right through the story and ruined it by that and the incessant jabbering of the telly presenters. We had none of that and it was incredibly beautiful...brought a tear to my eye ( and I am an American btw) My sweet English husband answered my questions about the theme of the Industrial Revolution and how it shaped the lives of the British people; some in good ways, some in bad. I am so proud to have witnessed such a poignant slice of history.....with NO commercial interruptions! Good luck to our amazing Olympians from all over the world!

I would be extremely proud of universal health care as well if we had it here. I love the Brits sardonic humor.( Monty Python anyone)

I'm extremely disappointed in NBC for the lack of women involved in broadcasts. How can a men's pro basketball coach comment on women's soccer (Doc Rivers) who admitted he knows nothing about women's soccer? PJ Carlismo commenting on the "girls" on the women's basketball team. Why not more of Lisa Leslie?! There are no women who take the lead in any broadcast. While I applaud the equity in the numbers of women competing for the US, the media should be leading the way. The lack of women coaches is a whole other issue for the US.
