the opening ceremony's at 4:00 pm our time....but Nf'nBC doesn't show it 'til 7:30!......after all that hype....it's practically "yesterday's news" @ 7:30!

I'm proud of those athletes who have worked so hard to compete...
...and grateful for today's technology that allows families to watch the opening ceremony tonight.

With all of today's technology we should be watching it live. But that might hurt the prime time ratings with would mean fewer $$ for NBC....thus MONEY WINS!!

Yes...prime time commercials pay for the THOUSANDS of STAFF PERSONAL that it takes to broadcast this event.
The transportation, interviewers, the grips, the camera folks , the trailers housing equipment, the food services, the hotels, the producers, the security, the commentators, the assistants .....
This COSTS A LOT OF MONEY.
A disgruntled couch potato complaining that they can't have instant gratification to watch TV.... good grief
I saw it live and unedited over the internet. It was extremely beautiful and moving and the unedited story was awesome. Then, I saw the rebroadcast of it later. Unfortunately, the taped rebroadcast absolutely cut it up and destroyed the whole story. Meredith and her host kept talking through it, also. It is one of the worst desecrations of great theatrical art I have seen in my lifetime. If you can get an unedited, non-stop (live) video of the opening ceremonies, watch it!!!

NBC, just another moneytaker at the Olympics
Yup, because of those nutt@!$%#s I cant watch the olympics because this year to watch the online stream you have to have a cable subscription.
A cable subscription...to watch them ONLINE.

Why can't NBC show the Olympics LIVE??? Oh I forgot, NBC is worried about their ratings. Shameful the entire planet gets to see the games live except the Good ole USA.
(There maybe a few other countries that are not carrying it live but the vast majority of nations ARE carrying it live)
And thats my opinion.
I haven't checked, but did you check all the NBC channels, like NBC, CNBC, and I think there is one more? They show their own coverages at different times.
I think it's a CROCK OF CRAP that we cannot watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony Live - just because NBC decides what we can see and when - it's happening LIVE right NOW but yet NBC has declared we must wait until later tonight - if I wanted to watch a LIVE EVENT as rerun I would look it up on Youtube! NBC is such AssHATS! CBC in Canada is broadcasting it LIVE - NBC you BLEW IT!

Everyone check and see if your tv providor carries the channel NBC Sports Network (NBCSN). They are supposed to be broadcasting all games.

Anybody notice what's missing from the ceremony? The minute of silence for the Israeli athletes murdered by the Palestinian Authority (PA) at the Munich Olympics. ... Ooops, it wasn't the Palestinian Authority that did it, it was Yasser Arat's orders as head of the PLO. Hmm...but today's PA has said how we shouldn't have a memorial to those athletes. Guess its the same people with a new name. Guess its anti-Semitism with a new name. Hitler would have been proud fo today's IOC.
I could care less about something that happened back in the 70's. Time to move on.
The reason NBC doesn't show it live is because London is six hours ahead of us. When it is 12 noon there it is six in the morning here. Limited audience. Prime time, most people are at home. Watch CNBC and MSNBC for live feeds of soccer, basketball and a few others and get over it.
No, it's the reverse in time. When it is 12 noon here (EST), it's 5PM there.
It's wrong for NBC to only offer those with tv supscriptions the opportunity to watch the games online. So in order to watch the games we have to subject ourselves to a useless, expensive, and mind rotting cable subscription? Garbage. Everyone should have the same opportunity to watch the games online if they don't have cable. Thanks to the money hungry opportunists at NBC..many of us will not. NBC blows!
Really? There was an opening ceremony? Those of us in the United States wouldn't know, because NBC refuses to show it live. I hope NBC's advertisers aren't counting on my business.
Just want to say NBC with all of your technology I am sick of watching tape delay, you are a disgrace. I cannot even watch it online live. I won't be surprised when we do get to watch the tape delay it will be with equally annoying advertisements every 10-20minutes. Shame on you. Your blackout system stinks. Would it have truly hurt your budget to show it twice.

The opening ceremony is the best part of this game and NBC want to ph**k US viewers with tons of gawdy ads!
1). If NBc has the beauty queen in their hands, they would sexually explot the woman first for $$$, then strip her naked, post all kinds of xxxx rated ad on her body, then the woman will look like a monster, and NBC want to make money this way!

Well we have just watched the opening ceremony and are very dissapointed that the country of Malta was totally overlooked. If anyone has footage of Malta entering the olympic stadium could you please show us, we are so very upset, we are so let down.

I totally agree wit you- as for those two, I was tired of them BEFORE the Olympics 'officially' began. The way that stupid woman talked, the opening ceremony was going to be spectacular.. to the point that she said earlier 'it brought me to tears- now I see why, this was one of the worst, if not the worst, opening ceremonies I've ever watched, and I'm 43 yrs. old and have watched them since I was in 7th grade. What a waste of time to watch it.

NBC How is it going to hurt you to show the opening celebration of the greatest show on earth twice. God you repeat show all the time over the summer.

To put the nail in the coffin NBC you start showing us photographs from the opening celebration. and we still got an hour to go be for we all see it on the west coast. This Olympic is subdues to be the most technological Olympic ever, Twitting, Facebook, G+ & streaming event ever, sorry did I say Streaming, That one word that is not in NBC vocabulary, Steaming, Definition: A Technology for transferring date so that it can be received and processed in a steady stream: live steaming video.
Just started watching opening ceremonies and it is a great show! I also love Matt and Meredith together and think it is great they too are enjoying the show.

In England they are saying the only people in the world who won't get the openning ceremony is Americans because the references might be too subtle for them. You prove the English stereo-type of Americans right by mis-spelling boring. You know in England when someone does something stupid they ironic chant U-S-A at them. I thought it was a great show until Paul McCartney came on. He is no longer a relevant artists but always seems to get the gig because he is a former beatle. It was a smarter and more creative show than Beijing. It was saying when Brits invent stuff it tends to benefit the world. They invented the suit, the police, firemen, underground trains, the industrial revolution, TV, telephone and the world wide web and most of the most popular sports in the world including many Americans ones. Did you guys get the subtle critcisim of America? One thing the British always point to as saying makes them a kinder society than America, is the NHS, free healthcare for all.
