Hope Solo admits to being 'drunk' on TODAY after Beijing win

I third that, why is this news? What do they expect? Stupid news people, its like you'll throw anything against the wall, regardless of its perceived implication... and see what sticks.... let these people celebrate, and if you dont want them drunk, then dont book them to appear at 7am after a big win like that.... wankers.

They won and had a right to party! Then they got dragged onto stupid Today the morning after... big deal!

This Olympic event everyone is being forced to eat one type of french fry and drink only one type of beer. Unfortunately for me, I don't like either of the brands they are serving so no beer or fries for me.

Does this mean she and the others are drunk no goods? I don't think so. But it does I think mean that their judgement "at times" is questionable. If nothing else it shows a lack of respect for not only for the people of the Today Show but also themselves and who they represented.

I know many say "so what". I sort of agree but I would for sure not be bragging about it. I honestly disagree with what they did however am proud of what they acomplished.

Getting real tired of the media asshats thinking they are holier than thou. So some young atheletes win gold in the Olympics, party and get drunk. Wow, maybe they all need interventions. MSM has become a joke. Why not report on some real issues. By the way Hope Solo is a hot little number.

Yeah, but she's probably a "Christian" who is also in the closet and believes in tax loop holes to protect the obscene amounts of lucre derived from her natural talent hidden in the foreign bank accounts she opened so she doesn't have to support people less fortunate than she. What I posted has no actual relationship to the story but reflects pretty much everything Newsviners rail about on this blog when, in fact, this article deserves no comments at all!!! Then, Newsviners complain about some idiot (me) derailing the article to whatever useless tangent is used to support whatever cause or argument which only adds more fuel to the nonsense. It's not funny when it has to be explained. In the future, just remember and repeat this phrase, "I will not feed the trolls." It should help some.

I'm convinced that there is no real news left on the internet or TV, or even in written newspapers much these days. It's like reading "People" magazine or the "National Enquirer". This isn't newsworthy. And Hope was probably hungover as opposed to actually still being drunk. Geez, I know several Olympic athletes and people need to cut them some slack. They work their butts off for years to achieve their dream. They deserve to party and celebrate. The fact the Today show would have them appear at such an unreasonable hour speaks volumes to how out of touch the media are anyways.

Try just about any non USofA media outlets, even the BBC. Most don't care what they print about what's really going on here and they don't stuff their media with non stories like this about US issues. The US media surely doesn't hold back much about the other countries day to day f ups. The MSM is controlled.

Seeing as nobody knew they were drunk until Hope Solo admitted it 4 years later obviously they were discrete and used common sense! This is a non-story precisely because they did nothing wrong! They had won an Olympic Gold Medal for God's sake - why wouldn't they celebrate?!

I think thesign was being sarcastic about this being 'news'. He mentioned Obama, because as our President, if there were some "breaking news" (such as 9/11, or some other disaster), he would have to hold a press conference on it.

You are a single digit IQ Moron. He was not refering to the Partisian issues of countries. He was simply referng to Obama as the leader of this country. Stupid blind supporters like you goes to show how self-concious you are about this President. Yes, don't bother: I am against this President and I believe our country is headed down the wrong direction. Why? The reason is because I am a Tax Attorney.

However, next time you choose to insult another commentator the way you just did based on paranoia love you have for the worst President in our contemporary history, breath, think, and re-read the argument before you blindly start throwing out swage the way you just did.

This is so typical of Leftist Supporters who just start responding bumper sticker slogans without actually reading the issues.

With regards to this soccer player: WHO CARES!!!!!! THEY WON!!! LET THEM CELEBRATE!! THEY DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO (unlike our President hehehhehe)!!! so they could get drunk if they want to and screw "Today Show".

I don't think she needs a job from you Dick227, shes a gold medal winning Olympic athlete. I am sure just about any US womens league will gladly accept her on their team.

You don't get out much do you?

Yeah, she will probably get lots of endorsement offers from liguor and beer companies now.

Hell, eve if she was drunk, I'd still hire just to look @ her. She is super hot!

What is it about these athletes that is so attractive? If they were average women on the street, I'd never find them attractive, but looking at these young ladies, first thing that pops in my head is "damn she is hot!!"

debi55: she just won the gold medal, and she isn't allowed to party?! Besides, since when was there any shame in having fun?

The thing is, in terms of endorsements, this does hurt her as an athlete because many companies or organizations probably will not select her to endorse products, especially if they are kid's products or health products because of the whole role model thing.

Can you imagine her now on a box of Wheaties? She will probably be made fun of on a Saturday Night Live skit...Early in the morning, red eyes, that's not milk she just poured in her cereal....

So, while people do say "so what?", the reason is that this is news is that the people at the Today show obviously were not happy about it and if anything, it just made a dent in her pocketbook of future endorsement income because she publicly just told the entire world. It's worse than someone posting a picture of herself drunk on Facebook because it was on the Today show and now on all the major news networks worldwide.

Do not have interviews the next day after a main event win and you will not have to worry about this kind of thing happening. It was a great win for women soccer.

I think she is more than semi-famous, but more importantly, if you think partying after winning a gold medal is "issues" then I think you are the one who has them.

First and foremost, I watch foxnews. So am I White Trash? Am I hillbilly? Am I undeducated?

You jazz man69, after seeing your screenname, I could start throwing a lot assumption based on your screenname alone and I have not even started with your comment.

However, people like you have a very hard time to come to peace with reality and what you would like to hear. The reason that sometimes people like you attack others and lable them with stereo types is simply due to the fact that you do not have any argument that actually has any merits. Meaning, if you actually did not like what he said, you could have said, "hey buddy, I do not like what you said because ...." But people like you can't do that because you are motivated by irational feelings and since your argument simply do not have any merit or factual basis, you start name calling to shut the other person up. For example, calling him "racist" for watching foxnews.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed your lecture. I cannot wait to hear your opinion of me, White trash? hilbilly? no intelligence?

Obviously you care enough to post on here. Her credibility is slowly but surely going way down. As to the so called PMS meds containing a banned substance, or disallowed, whatever euphamishm you wish to use. She is a role model, like it or not. Not to me, I'm a guy, regardless of the absurd PC frames of posters being all women. You are representing your country, the olympic games are not over, and you party, sneaking guys into your room, drink booze all night, then appear in front of millions and confuse that you won the World Cup v the Olympic gold. Pathetic. And it is your obligation to give your doctor a list of disallowed substances. Not for him to guess, if that is indeed what happened. Her name is beginning to change to Pinocchio. And reprimanded by a biased US committee vs. an international neutral one. Absurd. And no, I am not religious, right wing, etc. since plenty of you use that rationale to excuse intolerable behavior. Where is Alex Morgan when you need her?
